It sounds wonderful but dental implants in one day are not possible. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Which is exactly the case with many of these ads promising One Day Dental Implants. They are twisting facts to make it seem like something that it isn’t. Reality? It will take one day to have your implants placed, however, there are multiple appointments that lead up to that “installation day” and other appointments that follow after the installation of the implants, with time in between for healing. A temporary crown can be placed until the bone adheres to the implant but the permanent crown implant is not attached until months later. The claims that most dental insurance plans cover one-day implants are simply not true as well.
Implants are the best replacement of a tooth other than the tooth itself. They look and feel like real teeth and can last a lifetime with proper care.
Each case and person is different. Some of the variables your dentist will consider as they advise you considering implants are:
During the procedure, conscious sedation can be given to patients if desired or numbing medicine (local anesthesia) can be given. After the procedure, over the counter pain medication is all that is usually needed.
First, you will need a consultation and exam appointment. There will be another appointment to surgically place the titanium post-implant into your jawbone. At this appointment, you may or may not have a temporary crown attached to the implant. There will be other appointments to make sure everything is healing well. After the gums and implant area have had proper time to heal (approximately 4-6 months), the final appointment to place the permanent crowns are scheduled. The basic process is the same for each implant. The time and treatment will vary, depending on the health of the teeth and gums, and the number and type of implants.
