Dr. William Taylor and his identical twin Edward were born in Shreveport, LA on May 7, 1979. Because their heartbeats were in perfect rhythm during the sonogram, no one, including the doctor, expected twins. William and Edward were born into an already blended family which eventually would total 10 kids. To this day, William and his siblings get together once a year, usually in conjunction with a bicycle race since they all enjoy cycling.
William was always athletic. In high school he played lacrosse and tennis. His passion now is cross-fit training and cycling, but he has always been active. He also was serious about school. William’s family regarded education very highly. In fact all of his siblings pursued higher education.
As William puts it, he was never exposed to any other option but to go to college. Since he was a bright young man, this was not a difficult pursuit for him. He knew he wanted to work in medical science but hadn’t decided yet which field. But after many trips to Arizona as a kid, William had his sights set on attending school there. He chose to attend the University of Arizona as a biochemistry major. Yet he got more than he bargained for! While at U of A he also met the love of his life, Kasey Martin.
After they graduated college in 2002, William and Kasey went to New Orleans for a year so Kacey could complete her residency as a registered dietitian. While there, William worked as an EMT. He enjoyed that position and it helped him to start fine tuning what type of medical work he might want to do. He realized he did not want to work in a hospital and considered pursuing medical research.
When he and Kasey returned to Tucson, William started a master’s program in drug research. He and Kasey got married in 2002. It was Kasey’s dad, Dr. Jeff Martin DDS, that had a huge impact on William’s decision to pursue dentistry. Being allowed to shadow his father-in-law and other dentists, William saw exactly what medical field was right for him. He went to dental school at USC graduating in 2008. He immediately joined Dr. Martin’s dental office and has been a vital part of the practice ever since.
Currently, William Taylor and his wife Kasey live in Tucson with their three young children. When he’s not doing dentistry, you might find him at the gym doing his cross-fit workout. Or maybe you’ll see him out riding his bike in training for the next cycling event with his siblings, which this year is a 103 mile ride. But often you’ll find him swimming and just enjoying his kids.
