Home » Five Benefits of Choosing Dental Implant Surgery for Tooth Replacement

When you’re missing teeth, it profoundly impacts nearly every area of your life. The first thing you may be concerned about is how tooth loss affects your smile. However, functionality is also an issue if you can’t chew your food effectively. And if you have missing teeth in certain places, it can affect the way you speak. Fortunately, William Taylor, DDS, Dr. Jeff Martin, and Dr. Melvin Abraham at Martin Taylor Dentistry have a solution for you: dental implants

Understanding Dental Implants: The Gold Standard for Tooth Replacement

Dental implants are a revolutionary tooth replacement solution that can be life-changing. These prosthetic teeth are made of three parts:

The post is embedded directly into your jawbone to replace the root from the tooth that used to be there. Over a period of three to six months, the post will fuse completely with the jawbone. Once the titanium post has fused with your jaw, it’s topped off with an abutment and a porcelain crown.

Below, we discuss five benefits of restoring smiles with dental implants.

1. Natural Appearance Is Restored

Dental implants are custom-designed to match your natural teeth perfectly. This means your porcelain crown will look very similar in shape, size, and color to the rest of the teeth in your mouth. Replacing a missing tooth with a dental implant also helps preserve facial shape and structure, so your appearance won’t change as it would without tooth replacement.

2. Chewing and Speech Is Improved

Compared to dentures, chewing and speech are optimal with dental implants. A dental implant is a permanent structure, so you never have to worry about slippage when eating or speaking.

3. Comfort and Reliability

Most of us have seen the viral video of the grandmother who goes to blow out the candles on her birthday cake, but her dentures end up falling out. She has a good sense of humor about it, but this isn’t something you’ll ever need to worry about if you replace your teeth with dental implants. Dental implants function identically to your natural teeth. You also don’t have to worry about getting sores or irritation on your gums.

4. Bone Loss Prevention

When a tooth is missing, the underlying jawbone doesn’t receive stimulation. This will cause the bone to deteriorate. When this happens, your facial shape can change over time. The titanium post of the dental implant allows you to have jawbone stimulation the same way you did with your natural tooth.

5. Mini Dental Implants Can Save You Money

Are you concerned about the cost of replacement teeth? Dental implants are one of the best investments you can make, but the price may make some patients pause. Mini implants are a more cost-effective solution. These implants offer similar stability and functionality but are smaller and less invasive. In most cases, mini dental implants are used to secure bridges or implant-supported dentures. They are also ideal for patients who don’t have sufficient jawbone density.

Dr. Taylor, Dr. Martin, and their entire staff are the very best. The front desk staff, the dental assistants, and dental hygienists are excellent. I’ve been to many dentists over the years, and they are the most skilled and professional group of people that I have encountered. You can be confident you will be fully informed about what is recommended for a treatment plan and what it will cost. I’ve had the gamut of dental procedures — crowns, implants, root canals, and more routine care. It’s been made as pleasant and comfortable as possible by their skill, as well as their kindness and understanding. I wholeheartedly recommend Martin and Taylor Dentistry.

I have been a patient of Dr. Taylor’s for most of my adult hood. I have had everything done from a filling to multiple dental implants. All of my procedures have been straightforward with zero complications and as little discomfort as possible. Even after my implants I had minimal pain! Before I saw Dr. Taylor I was terrified of dentists, but he put me at ease with his expertise. The hygienists are kind, thorough but gentle, and knowledgeable. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The office itself is modern and impeccably clean. I highly recommend Martin Tayler dentistry and won’t trust my teeth to any other dentists.
